I’ve recently been tasked with an old Server 2000 with Exchange 2003 migration to Server 2008 R2 with Exchange 2010. Having completed the basic server migration we then had some issues with Active Directory, these unfortunately caused further problems for the Exchange 2010 install.
The below error was flagged when it tried to install the Hub Transport role:
[ERROR] The following error was generated when “$error.Clear();
if ($server -eq $null)
new-exchangeserver -DomainController $RoleDomainController -Name $RoleNetBIOSName
was run: “Could not find the default Administrative Group ‘Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)’.”.
[ERROR] Could not find the default Administrative Group ‘Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)’.
In our case the below looks to have fixed by updating/confirming the appropriate Active Directory schema updates.
From the Exchange 2010 install media run the following commands without the quotation marks.
“setup.com /ps” – Prepares the Active Directory Schema for the Exchange installation.
“setup.com /p” – Prepares the Active Directory forest for the Exchange installation.
“setup.com /pd” – Prepares the local domain for the Exchange installation.
Running the above Exchange 2010 now looks to have installed as expected.
